Born in Bern in 1983. She was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma in 2011; in 2013 the chemotherapy destroyed her kidneys. After almost four years of dialysis, a kidney donated by her sister gave her a new life. Today she is an author, TEDx speaker and a full-time mother.
Born with biliary atresia, Fabio received a liver transplant as an infant; later, immunosuppressants damaged his kidneys. After four years of dialysis he received a donated kidney in 2008 and, following organ failure, another from his father in 2022. Today he is doing very well. He studies business psychology alongside a part-time job. Sport, especially tennis, table tennis and football, has been part of his whole life. As a Swisstransplant ambassador and a new board member, he is responsible for the sport area.
Born in Geneva in 1961, liver transplant recipient in 2017. After a career in the financial sector, he now works as a volunteer senior analyst. In his free time he is passionate about travel, music, motorsport and the mountains.
Born in London in 1962, she has lived in Valais since 1984. Liver transplant recipient in 1998. On the board of the World Transplant Games Federation since 2011 and its president since April 2023. She founded the TACKERS camps for transplanted children - convinced that exercise strengthens body and mind.
Born in 1964, she developed type 1 diabetes as a child. After years of dialysis, she received a kidney and pancreas transplant at the University Hospital Zurich in 2012. She volunteers at an animal shelter, visits people in hospital and supports the STA with administration.
Siryl Souissi is an entrepreneur and supports the association wholeheartedly. On the board he is responsible for marketing and digital communication.
since 1993The Swiss Transplant Association (STA) was created through the merger of the associations As de Cœur (heart transplant recipients), Trans Hepar (liver transplant recipients) and the Swiss Transplant Sports Association. Since 1993, the sports group has also been part of the STA - for transplant recipients who enjoy sport and travel together to competitions. The focus is not on peak performance, but on the joy of movement and on meeting transplant recipients from around the world.
Through exchange with partners, organisations and institutions, we give our members an overview of what is happening in the transplant community.
We encourage active contact and the sharing of experiences among our members - with the goal of supporting one another with advice and action and passing on courage, strength and joy of life.
And we champion the cause of organ donation: through public outreach to promote a willingness to donate at regional and national events.
Saving a life doesn't always mean being a hero. Sometimes it's enough to be an organ donor.
